About the Role

The Program Specialist is responsible for the public events and multi-family housing canvassing and outreach initiatives within the broader Electric Vehicle Promotion (EV-P) practice area. In consultation with the Program Manager for EV-Promotion, this position will lead efforts related to events and canvassing planning, tracking, coordination, and training.

The position is currently funded through December 31st, 2026. Continuation beyond this depends on program funding. While this role may appear in multiple postings, only one position is available.


What you'll be doing

Event and canvassing administration and oversight

In partnership with the Program Manager for EV Promotion:

  • Developing and coordinating events and canvassing calendars, budgets, and staff plans.
  • Supporting grant and budget development, deliverable tracking, reporting, and partner communication. Manage relevant grant contracts and budgets as assigned.
  • Leading strategic planning and project evaluations for events and canvassing initiatives.
  • Developing, coordinating and maintaining annual events and canvassing calendars.
  • Leading data collection, analysis and reporting efforts to support outcome tracking for the event and canvassing initiatives.
  • Ensuring all events and canvassing-related outcomes are delivered on time and in accordance with grant contracts.

Plan and coordinate the delivery of in-person events

  • Acting as the EV-P team's point of contact for event organizers and other stakeholders
  • Securing diverse and appropriate outreach venues that satisfy funders' geographic requirements, including disadvantaged and low-income community engagement.
  • Soliciting participation of partner organizations as required and appropriate.
  • Assigning and coordinating event tasks among EV-P team members and volunteers.
  • Ensuring the procurement of all required materials and supplies.
  • Collaborating with EA's Marketing department on all event marketing, including the design and production of marketing collateral.
  • Securing all necessary event licenses and permits.
  • Coordinating liability and risk management in collaboration with the Program Manager for EV Promotion and EA's Central Services Department.
  • Leading on planning for the Ride and Drive event and other projects.
  • Delegating tasks to team members as required and appropriate.

Lead and coordinate EV Promotion team's outreach to Multi-Family Housing

  • Implementing and improving outreach efforts for property management stakeholders to promote and recruit installation of chargers.
  • Creating customer communication tracking systems for different projects.
  • Collaborating with EV Charging counterpart and EA's Marketing Department on marketing efforts, including the creation and production of collateral.
  • Scheduling EV Team canvassing efforts to multi-family housing.
  • Implementing and improving data collection for canvassing.
  • Driving program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Support EV-Promotion team activities

  • Supporting volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination activities.
  • Providing support to Purchase Guidance Advisors as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 3+ years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying.
  • Experience with project management fundamentals (strategy and work plan, schedule, resourcing and budget management).
  • Valid California Class C Driver's license, a reliable personal vehicle available for work purposes (mileage reimbursement provided), and current automobile insurance.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and project management software/tools.
  • Ability to motivate and appreciate program participants, sponsors, and volunteers.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of initiative.
  • Ability to maintain excellent time management in a complex work environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high-level of organization, professional communication and coordination for yourself and a broad team (staff, volunteers, participants, etc.).
  • Ability to make presentations and adjust communication style, as needed.
  • Excellent and professional communication (both written and verbal), coordination and organizational skills.
  • Ability to execute implementation of plans incorporating objectives and details from multiple grants.
  • Strong and professional interpersonal, relationship building, and facilitation skills with team members, partner agencies, and other Ecology Action departments.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain organization of concurrent projects.
  • Experience with, and/or understanding of, the EV marketplace, including local, regional, and national contexts.
  • Experience in B2B lead generation or sales, especially to MFH properties.
  • Knowledge of the communities in which we prioritize outreach, i.e. census designated Low Income and Disadvantaged Communities
  • Commitment to climate justice, GHG reduction, and/or sustainable transportation.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear, and use a computer keyboard and monitor.

The environment is a mixture of an office setting and working out in the field (at multi-family housing properties and community events). Required travel will include frequent events in the Monterey Bay Region and occasional further travel in the Bay Area, Central Coast or Central Valley and potential future travel throughout California.

Preparation for events involves multiple trips to the storage unit in the basement to load and unload supplies into the agency vehicle. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
