We've become California's thought-leader when it comes to sustainability program design and have helped over 20,000 California residents and business owners save millions of gallons of water and reduce energy consumption by half a million kilowatt hours each year.  Locally, we've inspired over ten thousand students and adults to bike to school or their place of work twice a year.

We are seeking a top tier candidate for a Community Programs Marketing Manager to join our growing team in Santa Cruz, CA. The Community Programs Marketing Manager is directly responsible for the coordination and execution of multiple marketing projects leveraging in-house resources as well as external freelancers and vendors with a focus on our Community Programs projects and initiatives. Working on both digital and offline marketing projects, this position will collaborate with internal teams and clients to keep projects on track and moving forward.  This role will support Monterey Bay Area residents and businesses choose to bike more to work and school, consider electric vehicles, reduce water use, garden green, and recruit certified green businesses.


  • Support and collaborate with the Community programs team to generate awareness, visibility and participation in our water, transportation, certified green business, and fundraising programs.
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy that optimizes and builds upon our established accounts across the organization.
  • Project management and coordination for digital, print, and web marketing projects related to our community and donor programs.
  • As required, create, maintain and steward relationships with media to generate publicity and coverage for our community programs.
  • Manage marketing projects, in collaboration with program team, to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery in line with project objectives and goals.
  • Responsible for developing partnerships and presenting informational sessions to local chambers and local businesses in collaboration with program owners.
  • Ensure the use of marketing best practices to drive effectiveness across all marketing projects
  • Work with program owners to analyze project needs and ensure that they fit with resourcing, business objectives and broader marketing strategy.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and consultants to deliver on projects and executions.
  • Manage multiple projects, including project tracking and troubleshooting using a variety of project management tools and processes.
  • Leverage project and program experience to contribute continuous improvement ideas for marketing specifically in terms of operations, processes, communication and technology.
  • Communicating effectively with team members, senior leaders, and the broader organization as well as partners and clients.


  • 4-6 years marketing experience; website/online and integrated campaigns experience required.
  • Highly proficient with marketing tactics, creative development and internet technology
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite particularly InDesign
  • Bachelor degree in Marketing or Communications
  • Project Management Certification a plus
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Fast-learner with demonstrated success in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment
  • Knowledge of process and workflow
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to motivate others and keep them focused on assigned tasks
  • Must have the ability to work independently and solve problems creatively
  • Must have the ability to adapt to change in a dynamic agency environment
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excels in conflict resolution and identifying suitable compromises where appropriate
  • PC and MAC proficiency
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Smartsheets, Basecamp, Pardot and SharePoint a plus
  • Personal passion for protecting the environment and improving community well being
  • Familiarity with and enthusiasm for the actions promoted in our Community Programs
