Ecology Action is seeking two Inside Sales Representatives to join the Energy Team. Reporting to the Channel Manager, these positions will focus on customer acquisition through lead generation for our Sales Teams providing comprehensive energy savings to small and medium business. This is an outbound cold-calling position that will develop leads using a variety of tools, including personal networking, business directories, web searches, and utilizing social media. The Inside Sales Rep will be expected to vet out the buying potential by asking the required questions as provided by Sales Management. Qualified leads will then be entered into our database for assignment to the appropriate Energy Auditor. Unqualified leads will be marked and noted for follow up at a late date if appropriate. Must be energetic, well-spoken, and eager to close sales and increase revenue. Territories to be canvassed and called upon will include Pacific Gas and Electric, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and Alameda Municipal Power respectively.


  • Cold calling; making multiple outbound calls to potential clients.
  • Identify and pre-qualify viable prospects via lead generation software and questions.
  • Researching potential leads from business directories, web searches, or digital resources.
  • Telephone prospects to identify appropriate contacts, qualify and drive leads through the sales pipeline.
  • Creating and maintaining a list/database of prospect clients.
  • Maintain proficient communications with Sales team regarding lead funnel.
  • Answering potential client questions and follow-up call questions.
  • Tracking weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance and sales metrics, including reporting to management on daily activities and pre-set goals.
  • Maintaining database (Salesforce, CRM, Excel, etc.) of prospective client information.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible in an evolving sales environment.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years sales experience preferably in an professional office environment.
  • Comfortable making cold calls and talking to new people all day.
  • Ability to successfully develop lead prospects via cold-call.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Tenacity to handle rejection and continue on with a positive attitude when reaching next potential client.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to call, connect and interact with potential customers.
  • Eager to expand company with new sales and clients.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented.
  • Possesses an energetic, outgoing, and friendly demeanor.
  • Superb organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated success with working independently and with independent work processes.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) and CRM/Salesforce experience preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of sales experience preferably in an professional office environment.  
  • Previous inside sales experience, including cold calling or door-to-door outreach, or related sales experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful cold calling experience.  
  • Knowledge of sales process from initiation to close.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong grasp of using social media sources (i.e. LinkedIn, Facebook, etc) to prospect leads and identify decision makers.
  • Experienced researcher.  
  • Quick thinking and problem solving abilities.

Work Environment: The work environment is primarily an office setting. 

Compensation: Ecology Action offers a competitive salary and a generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision and flexible spending benefits; a 401k-retirement plan with a 4% match; and group life insurance. Occasional driving of an insured personal vehicle on company business may be required and mileage reimbursement is provided at the Federal rate.
